Hmmmm. Oriel might have something. The eclipse cycle that I discovered
that occurred exeligmosly in the same region progressed geographically
approximately 15 degrees every cycle (54 years 1 month). I wonder if that
is related to the the 15 degrees per hour in any way?
But my observations studying lots of ancient astronomical texts suggests
that cycles repeat themselves but not precisely. Everything is in sync but
not precisely. Things repeat themselves but with a slight difference. For
instance one saros series of lunar eclipses (every 18 years 11 days) in
541-523BCE repeated two eclipses the same year but every series the distance
between the two eclipses increased by about 2 hours 1 minute (i.e. 541 BCE
2:45, 523 BCE 4:46, etc.). Another repeating solar pattern repeats the
same ecilpse every 1940 years in almost the same location except by a few
degrees. So certain patterns do repeat, even in the same location
sometimes, but not exactly so that over thousands of years nothing really
exactly repeats itself, each century has it's own identity if you're
specific enough about the event. When you factor in combinations of
positions for the other planets identical combinations likely don't happen
for millenniums at a time and so it's possible with accurate, comprehensive
observations to pinpoint pehaps a single unique date in several millenniums.
It's quite fascinating.
The Earth's axial rotation being slightly off in connection with the solar
cycle works toward giving each year, decade and millennium a unique
astronomical signature. If the rotation was exactly 24x15=360 then it
would be difficult to tell one year from the next in some cases.
