If you look at the weights on AP mounts (which don't show this problem),
they are Stainless, with bronze liners inside. Funnily enough, I wouldn't
lubricate, with many oils becoming sticky if cold, especially in thin
layers. Phosphor bronze, is a largely self lubricating material (this is
why it is used in bearings), allowing the shafts to be left dry.
