First of all thanks for the tips everyone

I must admit I'm a bit hazy about seeing - I understand what it means
but I'm unsure how to judge it apart checking which stars I can see in
Ursa Minor. Time has been short but I keep googling and reading :-)
I guess on your link above I should be looking for calm conditons rather
than windy.

I had a very quick look last night borrowing the pretty horrible 4mm
kelner that came with my sons Lidl scope. I estimated seeing to be
attrocius, stars twinkling, saturn visibly shimmering (but it was low).
Mars must have been in a better position than last time because I could
actually make out some vague surface features this time :-)
