The phrase 'best mag I can get', implies automatically, that you do not
understand the effects of magnification, or what it is 'good' for...
Read the 'telescope buyers faq' at http://home.inreach.com/starlord/, or
one of the other similar FAQ's. Magnification, is probably the single
_least important_ thing about a telescope, since by just changing
eyepieces, you can choose any magnification you want. However most
magnifications will be unuseable, for a variety for reasons (ranging from
the performanceof your own eyes, the atmosphere, thermal turbulence, etc.
etc.).
For deep sky use, _aperture_, which represents the ability to gather
light, is the single most important thing.
