Are the fuzzy prominence-like features really just earth cloud? Or has

son's cheap digital camera really captured something solar?

Hi Ian - nice images but the huge scale and motion is all wrong to be a
solar [prom] event. You do need a total eclipse or 1 Angstrom H-alpha
filter or less to see such phenomena which is ~1 millionth the
brightness of sunlight.
