Information on deconsecration from a Roman Catholic site:

Canon 1212: Sacred places lose their dedication or blessing if they have
been in great measure destroyed, or if they have been permanently made
over to secular usage, whether by decree of the competent Ordinary or
simply in fact.
Church of England:
Search here: http://homepages.which.net/~rex/bourne/diary200502.htm for
"Bishop of Lincoln" for a bit more information.
Both refer to deconsecration by document.
Though the former does refer to an Episcopalian ritual.
As said upthread references to deconsecratin rituals having taken place can
be found on the web, but I've found very few details, even which
organisation the references refer to.
Such texts as I have on Church rituals don't have reference.
As one comment in the first link states "You are trying to use reasoning
with faith" implying its never a good idea. :-)
Muslims don't seem to have consecration or deconsecration rituals.
Thanks Carl
