How do you know when you are using magic?
I've had the (mis) fortune to sit in any number of circles and rituals in
my time, and I've seen more magic in the twinkle of my son's eye than in
far too many of these.
I've seen true Magic used in a "public" Circle only once, when the
Zoning Department of the City of Palm Bay was out to "get" the Church of
Iron Oak. That was a community emergency: communal Magic was employed.
Are we in danger of losing our native magical tradition? (Interpret that
as you will, just don't let the interpretation distract you from The Real
Thing. :)
Mostly, I save my Magical nights for those time when I'm in Circle by
myself, and then only as a last resort. It has been observed, truly,
that Magic is Hard Work - harder, in most cases, than accomplishing
something by mundane means - and thus, best saved for emergencies.
Blessed be,
Baird
