A Call to War

"Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men,
Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves
together round about.. thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O LORD.
Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for
there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about." Joel 3:9-12
God used the prophet Joel to call His people to wake up. He promised to
forgive, restore, bless, and pour His Spirit on them-if they would repent
and seek Him. But God also told them a day of great conflict was coming.
This would take place when the time was right and all preparations had been
made. All the nations would hear a call and gather for judgment. God would
await them in "the valley of Jehoshaphat."
What does this prophecy mean for us? First, we need to be ready. Are our
lives right in the sight of God? Are we tolerating sin? Do we need to
repent? Are we seeking God first and being sensitive to His Spirit? Are we
faithful with the time, talent, and treasure He has given us?
God also wants us to think of the millions of lost people who aren't ready
for the Day of Judgment. The sobering fact is that "probably 15-25% of the
world's population has not really heard the gospel in such a way as to
respond to the offer of eternal salvation in Jesus Christ." These millions
of Souls need the Gospel, and time may be short.
Today, God is looking for warriors-people who are ready to go into battle,
to follow His every command, and wage spiritual warfare. Ask God to give you
a burden for the Lost. And remember: As a soldier in God's army, you must be
ready to go wherever He leads you. Listen to His voice. Pray. Give. Serve.
And be prepared.
Let us pray
Father, prepare me for spiritual war. Use me to bring the Gospel to the
nations. Keep me from distractions. I dedicate my life to You. I believe You
for victory in Jesus' name, Amen.
