What 1 John says.......



End of 1 John

^13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

That is the purpose of the letter, to let the Christians know that they have eternal life.

Anything therefore in the letter that seems to say otherwise is a misunderstanding on the part of the reader, they have missed the point of the letter entirely if they reach a conclusion that isn't "You have eternal life if you are a believer in Jesus".

So all those people who say that we do not have eternal life in Christ are

1) Wrong according to John
2) Explicitly denying what the Apostle wrote a whole letter to affirm
3) Preaching a false gospel
4) Robbing people of the assurance of salvation which God wants us to have
