Do you really think that's at all plausible? Can you imagine yourself
choosing to live as if you're gay "as an act of defiance"?

Yes I do consider it plausible. If I was of a mindset that wanted to defy
convention. Perhaps I get this perception from a group who are particularly
vociferous and totally disproprtionate to their actual numbers within
society.

Maybe. Could you give me some examples of what people in this group
have said that give you the perception you have?
