It's like a wedding: the essential is the life-time commitment before witnesses; the colour of the dress, the location of the church, the presence or absence of horses[1], are all important to the couple but are cosmetic compared to the essential aspect, on which all weddings are based.

Note 1: A cousin in Australia mentioned that she had caused a degree of offence recently by refusing to take her horse on a 4 hour truck drive to a wedding. The bride had no interest in horses - didn't ride or anything - but somehow had got it into her head that a horse would complete the scene. My cousin wasn't even sure whether she wanted to arrive at the church riding the horse, leading the horse or just with the horse tied up at the gate!
