Circular arguments and carefully selected (mis)translations noted,
Jeff. Jeff:"As if God would have one set of commands for one
church and not for others....come off it, we are told in another
passage that "God is not the author of confusion"..."
"Some of his comments are hard to understand".
So everything Paul said is 'From God' because Paul said so,
Tim, are you accusing Paul of being a liar in this world-wide public
forum and before Christ & Almighty God?
No. I am merely pointing out that Paul is NOT God, and therefore is
not infallible.
Keep to the point Tim, you stated...."So everything Paul said is 'From
God' because Paul said so,"
So I ask again, would you be accusing Paul of lying and trying to
deceive all of us?
"37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him
acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the
commandments of the Lord."
1 Cor 14:37 (KJV)
To settle it once and for all...and to show just who are "Prophets"
or authentic "Spiritual" men, Paul asks that any dissenters like
yourself acknowledge that what he writes are the Lord's commandments
Either one according to Paul will answer to the affirmative.
So Tim, which do you think yourself to be "a prophet, or spiritual" ?
All humanity, made in God's Image, has a spiritual dimension, Jeff, so we are ALL in the latter category to a degree.
So as account yourself to be in the "Spiritual" bracket you will have no more difficulty in agreeing with Paul that.... "the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord"
I will start the ball rolling, I agree wholeheartedly "the things" that Paul wrote, unless he states otherwise "Are the commandments of the Lord"
So over to you now Tim, which your answer will either confirm or deny according to Paul, whether you are in fact what you assess yourself to be, somewhat "Spiritual".
Regarding the "commandments of the Lord" piece above, I note that other posters have pointed out that "commandments of the Lord" specifically for a particular problem in a church in Corinth in the 1st Century may well NOT be "commandments of the Lord" for EVERY church in EVERY time, place and culture, anyway.
Come of it Tim, stop stalling, we have just been through all this immature "milk of the word" childishness with Robert.
Paul wisely STARTED his letter to the Corinthians by stating what he was writing was for "all Christians everywhere" and "whomsoever" calls on the name of he Lord Jesus. He could not have been more specific.
And look what we find in Jude1:3 (New Century Version)
"3 Dear friends, I wanted very much to write you about the salvation we all share. But I felt the need to write you about something else: I want to encourage you to FIGHT HARD for the FAITH that was GIVEN the holy people of God, ONCE and FOR ALL-TIME."
See that direct plain confirmation?
The commands given either by Christ or Paul for living the FAITH are "Once and For all-time"
Now take a good look....at these TEN excellent specific Bible testimonies.
"2 To the Church of God at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ
Jesus, called to be saints, ** together with all,** wherever they are,**
who call upon the name of the Lord Jesus."
1 Cor 1:2 (MontgomeryNT)
"2 To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and
called to be holy, **together with *all* those everywhere* who call on
the name of our Lord Jesus Christ—their Lord and ours:"
1 Cor 1:2 (ANIV)
"2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, even them that are sanctified
in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with ** all that call ** upon the
name of our Lord Jesus Christ in ** every place **, their Lord and ours." 1
Cor 1:1-2 (ASV)
"2 To the church of God which is in Corinth, to those who have been made
holy in Christ Jesus, saints by the selection of God, **with all those** who
in *every place* give honour to the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their
Lord and ours:" 1 Cor 1:1-2 (BBE)
"2 to the assembly of God which is in Corinth, to [those] sanctified in
Christ Jesus, called saints, ** with all that in every place ** call on the
name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both theirs and ours:" 1 Cor 1:2 (Darby)
"2 To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ
Jesus, called to be saints ** together with * all * those who in ** every
place ** call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and
ours: 1 Cor 1:2 (ESV)
"2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified
in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, **with all** that in **every place**
call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours." 1 Cor
1:2 (KJV)
"2 to the church of God at Corinth, to those who are consecrated in Christ
Jesus, called to be saints, as well **as to all** who, ** wherever they may
be ** invoke the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord no less than
ours" 1 Cor 1:2 (MOFF)
"2 To the Church of God in Corinth, men and women consecrated in Christ
Jesus, called to be saints, with **all in every place ** who call on the
name of our Lord Jesus Christ— *their Lord* as well as ours." 1 Cor 1:2
(WEY)
"2 to the assembly of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ
Jesus, called saints, **with all those** calling upon the name of our Lord
Jesus Christ **in every place** --both theirs and ours" 1 Cor 1:1-2 (YLT)
This would therefore include ALL from whatever nation, or background, or culture, till KINGDOM COME.

Veff...
Here's even more evidence.
"Remember my Christian way of
life as I teach it 'everywhere' in 'every' church."
