1st Century Apostolic Traditionalist wrote:"- .. -- Tim .-." <timreason@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote in messageThe danger is to fall into the trap of adopting St Paul's
exhortations as a new set of rules. and that is to put us back under
Law.
There is no danger whatsoever in following Paul's exhortations as
unless specified to the contrary they are the "Commandments of the
Lord" "37 If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let
him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the
commandments of the Lord."
1 Cor 14:36-37 (KJV)
I think this may have been a reference to *specific* things Paul had said or was saying, rather than a blanket cover-all statement that *everything* Paul said is a 'Command of the Lord'. Certainly that is the mainstream view, since the vast majority do not believe we are bound by Paul's 'rules' about hair length and hat-wearing. From such statements instead we can draw more general principles, such as "Avoid unnecessarily behaving in ways that offend the conventions of the society in which you live".
So which one do you consider yourself to be Tim, a Prophet or
Spiritual?
I suppose like most people I believe I have a spiritual dimension to my nature! Anyhow it is YOU who is claiming that everything Paul said (except where he stated otherwise) are 'Commands of the Lord', so which do you consider YOUR self to be Jeff, a Prophet or Spiritual?
Spiritual! as I concur with every single word Paul taught, just as Christ has......{;o;}
The lethal danger for professing Christians today is that they are
ignoring Paul's inspired teachings, negating them, and finally
refusing to obey them. As Jesus informed his wise followers regarding
those whom he ordained to teach and preach the Truth....."16 He that
heareth you heareth me; and he that rejecteth you rejecteth me; and
he that rejecteth me rejecteth him that sent me." Luke 10:15-16 (ASV)
Do you think God REALLY cares about hair length and hats, Jeff?
Obviously He cares, as He was the one Inspiring Paul to teach on this very subject.
The "many called" don't believe it, this is whay they refuse to obey Divine teaching on hair-lenghs and covering heads or shaving them.
Only the "Few saved" will be 'Jottish' and 'Tittlish' enough to care enough to bother, as they respect every word of Paul's Christ approved teachings.
Evidently you do!
With all my heart!!!
Imagine someone earnestly contending the Gospel, working hard to get food and help to the poor and needy, devoting their lives to bringing many to Christ, then being damned to hell because he forgot to take his hat off when he said a prayer
Women or men don't 'forget' they refuse either because they do not want to obey Paul's inspired, God approved wishes, they cannot humble themselves to do what is accounted as righteousness, but they are to blind and unspiritual to see it is a test from God to see just how far humans will humble themselves to please God or themselves.
Jesus knows the wise understand instantly....whereas spiritual dummies are quite dumb-founded about such an apparent 'small matter' of a women wearing a head covering or shaving her head.
Like he stated...."10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much." Luke 16:10 (KJV)
Are you catching the spiritual drift.....{;o;}
or waited a bit too long between trips to the barber!!...."10 He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much".....{;o;}
"Few" only understand this real pearl of wisdom, sadly the "Many
called" and the 'sprinkled unbelieving baby brigade' refuse to take
take it seriously.
Ask the Popes who for centuries have defied God daily by praying with their heads covered.....and bought shame and contempt on Christ's supremacy over man.
"6 Yes, if she refuses to wear a head covering, she should cut off all her hair! But since it is shameful for a woman to have her hair cut or her head shaved, she should wear a covering.
7 A man should not wear anything on his head when worshiping, for man is made in God’s image and reflects God’s glory. And woman reflects man’s glory.8 For the first man didn’t come from woman, but the first woman came from man.9 And man was not made for woman, but woman was made for man.10 For this reason, and because the angels are watching, a woman should wear a covering on her head to show she is under" [man's] "authority."
1 Cor 11:5-10 (NLT)

"Paul, an Apostle, not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ,
and God the Father, who raised him from the dead." Gal 1:1 (KJV)
Isn't it about time you started listening to a man sent by God to
teach you the ways of righteousness, Tim?
