Re: Why do women act so Irreverent towards God? [ was Why do ministers dress so quaintly?

(Me)I read yesterday that the
word used for the prophesying of Philip's daughters could also mean
preaching.

Not in Strong's —Strong's Greek & Hebrew Dictionary....it refers to 'SPEAK'
which the commandment of the Lord has forbidden women to do in the churches.
Greek Strong's Number: 4395
[Transliteration: propheteuo
Phonetic Pronunciation:prof-ate-yoo'-o
Vine's Words: Prophecy, Prophesy, Prophesying
Usage Notes:
English Words used in KJV:
prophesy 28
[Total Count: 28]
(Prophetes); to foretell events, divine, speak under inspiration, exercise
the prophetic office :- prophesy.]

*speak under inspiration*
expanded in the online Greek Lexican to,

to break forth under sudden impulse in lofty discourse or praise of
the divine counsels

1. under like prompting, to teach, refute, reprove, admonish,
comfort others.

(snip stuff Jeff has said before on a few occasions)
(Kendall).
Of course women weren't totally silent in church. That is just Jeff's
nonsense.

Really! then it's also the silly 'nonsense' of  Christ ordained Inspired
Paul......when telling the faithful it is the Lord's Commandment, not just
his own opinion.
Oh! how many of you supposed 'devout' professing 21st century 'orthodox'
Christians fall completely away at this so easy to obey commandment of the
Lord.

.....yet when it comes to obeying a REAL command of the Lord on the silence
of women in the churches, he rejects it, and calls it "Jeff's nonsense."
Well, Ken, you show the world the real state of your heart towards God's
Word.

As Paul wrote of others....."Professing themselves to wise, they become
fools."

Meanwhile Celia you can try and do something really positive for a change
and pray these prayers, along with your rebelious womenfolk and repent of
your persistent and constant antagonism to Apostolic Doctrines and practises
on the ordained roles for Godly women.

"Lord forgive me for not obeying you in church when I speak, read
or preach a sermon, I know you have forbidden such things by  commandment, I
am so sorry, I will make make all due effort to remain silent and obedient
from now on".

Dear Jeff, I have plenty of things to repent of without seeking out
those that I am not guilty of. (Always supposing them to be a sin in
the first place which is doubtful)
I have never preached and since moving house haven't even been asked
to do a Bible reading. Your insistance on women being completely
silent in church goes way beyond any reasonable interpretation of
Scripture and could be seen as bullying. I trust you are as strict
with yourself as you are with others and no longer neglect assembling
together with other Christians. I think I got a rare sighting of a
change of subject from you earlier today, it was as welcome as the
first Swallow of Spring.

And when will you women ever righteously confess and say...."I am wrong to
pray
to you Father without a veil or a head covering, but as from now, I promise
I will either obey, or shave my head according to your Holy teaching".
So will you posting anything positive about this presently?

I had a hair cut last week and no longer have long hair.
Seriously I am positive that I have perfect freedom in Christ to pray
at all times; there is no law against it. I rejoice in the constant
presence of my Lord, prayer is a precious time totally unrestricted by
man made rules and rightly so. I know it is nothing to do with any
righteousness of mine that I see prayers answered but I praise God
that prayer is effectual and don't think that pretending to belong in
the first century and adopting their dress code would make one iota of
difference to God hearing my prayers or those of any other person.

One poster stated that he couldn't see very many women being allowed into
Christ's kingdom or 'Heaven'  as he sees it.
Is it any wonder people think that today?

But the Bible says,

Luke 18:9-14

To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down
on everybody else, Jesus told this parable: "Two men went up to the
temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The
Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: 'God, I thank you that I
am not like other men -- robbers, evildoers, adulterers -- or even
like this tax collector.] I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all
I get.' "But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even
look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on
me, a sinner.'

"I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified
before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he
who humbles himself will be exalted."
