Anyone watch the "Christianity : A History" Reformation program on
Ch. 4 this evening?

What an appalling fiasco of the state of Christendom, fighting and
killing each other for centuries.
Poor old Luther, hit the nail right on the head regarding
Indulgences.......but hounded and burnt at the stake for 'heresy'.

Pardon? I doubt the programme said that (about being burnt at the
stake)!

It didn't.

Ok. a correction, the authorities were  commanded to burn him alive for
heresy, but he escaped the sentence being taken by a powerful Prince into
his castle.

All in all, the program shows the wilful and chronic disobedience to
Christ's commands...."Love your enemies" "Do not kill" "Love thy neighbour
as thyself"
"But I say, resist not evil".
How people can refer to themselves  as Christians both Catholics and
Protestants and harm or kill their enemies for 'heresy'  or indeed, their
own brethren  and sisters in wars or personal protection is absolutely
appalling.

"By their fruits shall ye know them"

Indeed!

Jeff...

Indeed.
