row, row, row your obsessions, gently down the stream...
You can mock all you wish, dear boy, but what is new in that for
you? For Paul, whom was Christ ordained and Holy Spirit Inspired
[erh! you haven't had that privilege yet, have you Robert? ]
I hope I have.
No you haven't, "the spirit of error", certainly......but not "the
Spirit of Truth" otherwise you would not be such an antagonist
opponent of Apostolic teaching.
Well, Jeff, we could take a more general overview of Paul's writings about these protocols regards wearing or not wearing hats, etc. These were customs of his day, and we could interpret that as "Do not behave in ways that are offensive or antagonistic for the culture in which *you* live."
I have answered this in another post in which Ken has so far failed to acknowledge.
Scripture teaches.....
"3 But it is important for you to keep this fact in mind, that the head of
every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man, and the head of
Christ is God. 4 Every man who takes part in prayer, or gives teaching as a
prophet, with his head covered, puts shame on his head."
[thus irrespective of local customs, Christ is shamed when Popes and clergy wear hats and caps when praying]
"5 But every woman who does so with her head unveiled, puts shame on her
head: for it is the same as if her hair was cut off. 6 For if a woman is not
veiled, let her hair be cut off; but if it is a shame to a woman to have her
hair cut off, let her be veiled.
7 For it is not right for a man to have his head covered, because he is the
image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
8 For the man
did not come from the woman, but the woman from the man.
9 And the man was
not made for the woman, but the woman for the man.
10 For this reason it is
right for the woman to have a sign of authority on her head, because of the
angels." 1 Cor 11:3-10 (BBE)
So as we see, it is nothing to do with the "customs of the day" but for the reasons Paul has qualified.
Thus it is to be obeyed for all churches in every age. For no-one has been given the authority to negate and reject what Paul declared is
important and righteous and was indeed, church tradition for almost 2,000 years.
For the reasons still stand.
"7 For it is not right for a man to have his head covered, because he is the
image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. 8 For the man
did not come from the woman, but the woman from the man. 9 And the man was
not made for the woman, but the woman for the man."
HTH.
I trust s/he[1] will go on changing me!
Hummmmm!
God is not transvestite even if your obvious wishful thinking would
like it to be so.
Jesus is often depicted wearing something we would think looks a bit like a dress...
That aside,
God is not gendered, either, Jeff. We usually refer to God as 'He' because we don't have a non-gendered pronoun for a Person. 'It' doesn't seem right, when referring to God. But either He or She (I would suggest, capitalised) would do equally well. See Genesis 1:26-27:
Jesus called Him "Father", and so did the Inspired Apostles, and Mary was Jesus' mother.
Thus the faithful will refer to him as "Our Father in heaven" as Jesus did, and he what's right and better then even today's feminised men and emancipated women.
