"Lest we forget".

David.

These ceremonies would mean more to me if I thought the great and the
good who attend them were doing just a little to end conflict rather
than just remembering (in rather a cosy glow it seems to me) past ones.

When I was a teenager I used to buy and wear a poppy but when I learned
that my penny went to aid those who had suffered in conflicts after the
world wars I stopped doing so. The days have long gone when we had
conscription and national service: those who join up now do so
willingly, if they join up expecting not to fight they are idiots. I
have nothing against armed forces defending their country from armed
aggressors but that is not a situation we have been in for years.

Since 1900 there has been a war waging somewhere _every day_.

Yes indeed and yet some who post on this group say that this
earth, here and now, is God's Kingdom!

When will *we* accept that the devil is the prince of this world!!
"Until the day dawn" that is.

David.

He is not here; but far away
The noise of life begins again
And ghastly thro' the drizzling rain
On the bald street breaks the blank day.

The earth is the Lord's and the fulness thereof

Yes indeed - but as to The Kingdom of God, it is not as yet here on earth.

David.

So it isn't here but people here enter it.
