I am curious to know why some Christians regard Joseph (Mary's
fiance/husband) as a saint. After all, he had no blood relationship
with Jesus whatever as Jesus' father was God.
I note also that Matthew (Ch1.v16) traces Jesus' genealogy through
Joseph who was not really Jesus' father at all.
Anyone any ideas about this?

Alasdair.
There is a long account about St Joseph here
http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/08504a.htm
It is particularly good on the development of the veneration of Joseph
during the Middle Ages.
