There is an important difference between cultures whose religions
demand
death for humans supposed guilty of grave crimes, and cultures whose
religions
demand the continual death of innocent humans purely to satisfy the
Gods.

Anthropologically it is known as a religion with 'hungry gods' and it
should not
IMO be confused with the more general issue of harsh/brutal elements
in a
religion and/or culture.
