I personally don't want to get involved in of those types of threads for
the next n years, while I try to forget the old ones. I'm not
suggesting that someone, or even a committee!!!, sit down and try to
write a FAQ. I'm suggesting that we start a thread called, for
starters, "Why do you believe there is a God?" and another one called,
"How should the existence of God be explained to an atheist?" where we
calmly and intelligently debate all the issues and possibilities. Then
in a couple of weeks (or whatever) someone takes the thread, cuts out
the garbage and adds some some explanatory titles like you get in some
bibles, so that what is left is suitable for reference. In future we
can have one of those ASCII tombstone signs to give the url of the FAQ,
if someone starts one of these topics. It might not work, but it might
not hurt to give it a try for the currently active bogey.
I love it, so while our side moves the totality of human knowledge along
yours seeks to ossify your positions acknowleging by doing so that the
position is unlikely either to change or that the minds represented are
not open.
So by all means proceed, it will provide us with concrete evidence that
the above is true. If that is your stated aim, then I can have no
objections.
