Do you mean that on your computer the quoted text to which you are
replying
has "> " prefixed to each line?

Yes. Or >> as the case may be.

I have noted a couple of posts where the > is missing but that is not the
norm and I assumed it must be a characteristic of whatever program the other
party was using.

If anyone else is reading this, please can you let me know if my posts do
not appear to be quoting correctly? And, Ken, does the problem occur with
all my posts or just some of them?

I use Firefox as a browser too and have Thunderbird but I had some
difficulty configuring it. I might give it another try. (I'm now using
news.individual.net btw; I was using teranews but I decided it was that
which was causing my posts to disappear into the ether - maybe it doesn't
recognise ukrc as a moderated group.)
