Labels have their uses if used well. Perhaps the problem is that current
labelling doesn't work so well as in a given axis that a newcomer is
interested in there's more variation within the labels than between them.

Don't the different churches believe quite different things though? A
Church of England person may get quite a shock if they turned up at a
Roman Catholic service or vice-versa? In this way the labels can reduce
the search a bit. Long term it would be interesting if all the different
denominations mixed a bit.

Now in the Good Ol' Days it was the nearest church of the right type -
which would be in the village somewhere and there'd be only one for
miles. Maybe that's an effect of not living in towns where there are
lots of them!
