I agree his phrasing was tactless, but so is throwing in some
irrelevant extremist-Protestant propaganda (which I find offensive
although I'm not RC) --- unless your point was that such sources can
be as unreliable as Wikipedia?
Nonetheless, I'll be interested in reading your clarification of
whether Sikhism is monotheistic; it's interesting that your neighbours
say it isn't although what appears to be an official Sikh website [1]
says it is --- and expresses it so strongly that Sikhs might even
claim (as I understand some Moslems do) to be "more monotheistic" than
Christians (with our Incarnation and Trinity).
My point was that whilst Rcs worship Mary etc they call that kind of
worship by another name (latria?) and thus what they worship, in that
way, is not considered a god nor is that kind of worship meant for God.
Which aiui is how it is and thats how it was explained to me on this
NG.
Thank you. (You might wish to note that that is *why* we have a different name for it. So as not to confuse you!)
Now if Im only a so called Christian because I've understood accurately
what the Rcs believe Im confused again. Hang on let me check, the only
difference to what I think on the Vatican website is that they use the
word "venerate! rather than worship. So it appears that Im only a so
called Christian because I used "worship" instead of "venerate" even
though the externals are the same.
Eh? Come off it Phil. I talk to God. I talk to you. Am I worshipping you, even though the externals are the same?
The key questions are:-
1. Do you believe that, as a Baptised Christian, you have eternal life?
2. When does that eternal life start?
3. Do you believe that it is OK for one Christian to ask another to pray for them?
