Well, of course *if* someone else (today, not 2000 years ago) did *know*
the answer then that would be a good point. Trouble is I don't see many
people who IMO definitely know the answer.

Take (f'rinstance) the doctrine of the Trinity. Why reinvent the
wheel, trawling through scripture to come up with your own ideas, when
the apostolic doctrine is already available?

Of course, I know there are people who like to cook rather than eating
out; but if you're trying to reproduce that excellent quiche Lorraine
you had at the pub, but end up with bacon and eggs instead, maybe you
need to recheck the recipe.

I do see a lot of people (and
a few organizations) who *think* they (collectively) know the answer.

But *you* know they don't? :-)
