The LDS theology of salvation, broadly states that the fall was "a good
thing" and that being on earth shows that we want to be part of (our)
Heavenly Father's plan.
Biblical Christianity sees the Fall as "a bad thing" which cost the
lives of generations of humans and the Life of His (unique) Son...
Yes, I know what mainstream Christianity thinks, and it's so inferior to
things as they really are.
What mainstream Christianity finds terribly hard to believe, is that the
fall was necessary in the whole plan of happines. Without the fall we
could never grow, never know good or evil, never choose right over
wrong, never prove ourselves, never gain rewards for being a faithful
and wise steward. Christ could never have overcome and be exalted on the
right hand of the Father.
"The fortunate fall!" I've heard of that one. "A&E choosing to disobey
God's clear command made the world a better place for us all."
Interesting implication that maybe we should all willfully disobey God.
You think?
An all-wise God made the world for a purpose.
It was necessary that mankind know good and evil.
And thats why God told them not to do it? God told them not to do something
even though it was good for them and then punished them for doing what they
had to do for their own good and what He really wanted them to do?
Even this simple understanding is beyond the scope of mainstream
Christianity, and the wise and the prudent.
Only the simple could accept that understanding. By simple I mean those with
an extremely limited intellect or understanding.
