Actually, it's very easy - I know lots of RCs who have liberal (or, as
I think of them, 'heretical') views. There's not much control over the
laity. It's teachers of the faith - be that Balasuriya or Kung - that
are kept on a tight rein.

Then you understand my own particular difficulty....

priests - although they tended to be liberal in private rather than in
the pulpit.
