In my old Methodist circuit, we proposed some changes for its future

out its minister because he wanted to introduce changes which upset
the wrong people.
Many church members are thrilled when new people join them - provided
they are happy to fall in with doing things "the way they've always
been done".
That sounds pretty much my wife's experience of the Methodist churches that
she had been a member of. For long term health, a church needs an
every-person ministry with a membership/congregation that spans the age
ranges and no predominance of any one group in the activities of the church.
