I'm sure there are many in hospices who have been misinformed about
what will happen when they die by those who spread their particular
religious nonsense. This is not something to be proud of.

If it helps dying people to face death with some measure of
dignity, it could be. I agree that what matters more is
whether it's right or wrong. But you claimed not only that
it's wrong but that it does no good ("can't imagine how it
would be missed"), and it could do good even without being
right.

Just a note about "can't imagine how it would be missed".

I was assuming the case that there were no religions and hadn't been
for some time at least. Of course it would be missed by those who
believe in a religion now. I'm reasonably certain that there would
still be those who wanted to help the sick and dying etc. without the,
not sure of the right term,' motivation' of religion.' Or do the
religious only do it for other than altruistic reasons? Sorry if
that's a bit garbled, but I'm in a rush.
