The idea that politics is necessary or, to be precise, that politics is
necessary in some way that religion is not.


Politics is the art and science of government. Not my words, but they
sum it up nicely. It's impossible for even a small group to act
cohesively without some framework of government and that's where
politics comes in; to attempt to run a country without politics would
lead to chaos. Now what would happen if you had no religion? I can't
imagine how it would be missed - can you?
