The tug in question was called, I think 'Bonchurch'.
She was evidently built during the war for the positioning of the Mulberry
Dock.
According to the owner she has an interesting history, being in attendance
at Dunkirk

Aren't these two events mutually exclusive. Dunkirk was some years before
Mulberry.

You are probably right Peter. I am not an expert on the tug Bonchurch.
Although I suspect the concept for Mulberry was possibly on the
drawing boards before Dunkirk, therefore the tugs as part of the broad
concept could have been built before this time. I only passed on the
information regarding Bonchurch's history as given by the owner in the
sales info. In fact most of it was given by a bystander on the
towpath.

I am always amazed how certain places - like the power station at
Fiddlers ferry are visible from great distances. For example the FF
buildings can be seen from near bridge 86 on the Macclesfield.- Hide quoted text -

Go further up the hill at the back of Bollington ( Macclesfield
Canal ) and on a clear day you can see just the top of Liverpool
Cathedral, Beeston Castle. The Wrekin and no end of places. On a very
clear day you can see Snowdonia and sometimes, I am told Blackpool
tower. Probably need binocs.
