I have just installed Firefox on one of my machines. Seemed to work
fine until my son asked for films at my local Odeon. Display looked
fine, except the 'view trailer' buttons are not there. Navigated to the
same page using IE6 and they are there. Am I missing something in the
Firefox settings or is Firefox........
This is a thing I wanted to verify.
If I downladed firefox, opera or some other browser and used it , could I
flick back to IE immediately ?
I remember trying 40tude newsreader once, advocated by someone here - it
took over my whole machine, baffled me in its usage and it took me months to
restore myself back to OE !

I know the feeling. Changing from Symantec to McAfee products is a
nightmare unless you re-install the operating system.
They (IE6 and Firefox) seem to be working perfectly well side by side
(at the same time, on the same machine). Firefox offers to import you
settings from IE, which is very helpful.
So far so good. Fingers crossed.
I do suggest that you create an XP restore point.
Just to add a little fuel to the flames. I am not using IE7 because it
buggers up access to a router, which I require from two of my machines
and many games on my son's machine. So I have not bothered changing
over on my laptop. In MS's favour though moving back from IE7 to IE6
was trouble free, I just had to uninstall a couple of updates and then
IE7, no frigging around required and I had reverted to a fully
functional IE6.
