A long shot, but does anyone know the law regarding guns?
I was rudely awoken from mine bunk aboard the MG this morning (must
have been about 7.00) by some tosser with a gun, possibly two
tossers with guns, letting rip at the ducks. Many mornings there is
a single shot, which is bad enough because the ducks are not
bothering the tosser, they don't eat the ducks, and guns are gay.
But this morning there was a veritable salvo, then another five
minutes later.
The guns are very close, too close for my liking, an I would like to
know if I can
a) get something done legally
b) get their licensces revoked
c) shoot them in self-defence
Any info would be gratefully received. I think they may be on their
own land, but it may be common land.
Hi there,
technically, the season for Wild Duck and Geese (Inland) runs from 1
September - 31 January and you would need a Game Licence - from your
local post office and the permission of the landowner from whose land
you intend to take the bird or birds......
It is also an offence to discharge a firearm, including an airgun,
within 50 feet of the centre of any highway. This includes roads,
bridle-paths or public footpaths. The offence is complete if a member
of the public is injured, endangered or even just alarmed by the
incident.
I'd grab some pics for ID and contact the local police....
Not a fair contest, IMHO. But I see your point, thanks for the info. I am
indeed alarmed.
