Sorry for the confusion Dave, meant two wheel drive. i/e the second
drive coming from the sidecar wheel. To create even more confusion,
Nick has informed me that the model he has for use on UK roads does not
have the side car wheel drive, only available on ones where the sidecar
is mounted on the other side of the bike for roads in the rest of the
world. However, it still has reverse gear which is very useful
considering the weight of the thing. And according to predictions on
this newsgroup, the bike did stop! never to start again. Nick had taken
it to Oulton Park and had to get the recovery people to take him ,the
kids, and the bike back to his home in mid Wales.
Having said that, it is a magnificent bit of kit.
Roger.

My mate Nick has just bought a Russian made Ural bike and sidecar. It's
something from another world. The bike is basically an old BMW which
the Russians got the plans for during the war. The whole thing is done
in desert comouflage, has three wheel drive and reverse.
I'm trying to picture how a THREE-wheel drive combination might work. I
am failing. DO you really mean TWO-wheel drive, Roger? I know the
Wehrmacht had similar kit during the Second Great Unpleasantness.
