Pleasure craft are asked to avoid the above areas on the day between 9
a.m and 4 p.m.
Pleasure craft transiting the sections should proceed slowly keeping to
the centre of the canal where possible.

We got caught in one on the Shroppy last year. It went on for about
three- quarters of an hour- say a mile at the speed we were doing- and
the annoying thing was the shouted, contradictory instructions from the
anglers, all of whom had different theories about which bit of water the
fish were in.

Exactly. What does "proceed slowly" mean and who decides if it is slow
enough? Woolly 'requests' such as these just lead to confusion and
irritation. Will BW ever learn?
