Angela,connect
You will need to add a news option to your "view" menu within MS Outlook.
There is a microsoft help page which describes how to do it here
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/902929/en-us
Scroll down to the bottom of the page.
It does work because that is what I use.

When I right click on Newsgroup, I get three options
Tool Bar
Views Bar
Customise
But no properties........
I have found an option called settings. This offers:
Don't synchronise
All messages
New messages
Headers only
But if I choose 'all messages' it will download about 2400, and I
can'tvia a mobile 'phone, so I can't do that.
I have tried going to Google and looking at the old messages, but I
Outlookpost there, unless I type in my registration details.....which I've
forgotten!
Recently I installed Outlook 2000 on to the computer. I still have
month,Express, but only use it for accessing newsgroups, well actually this is
the
only newsgroup I read. Is it easy to set up the newsgroup on Outlook so
that
I don't need to use Outlook Express again?

Very likely the problem is that OE's default setting shows you
*unread* messages only. There is an option somewhere to change that
can"all messages". I can't be more precise, because I don't use it. You
can also adjust the length of time downloaded messages are kept on
your machine; if they are no longer there, you can download (again)
all messages still available on the server.
Ah, Right click on the newsgroup, select properties, Local File. You
messagesthen delete the lot, and then click Reset - OE will then get all
from the news server next time you sync. Right click will also allow a
change of sync settings (all mess, new mess, or headers)
