And they cost a fortune!

This raises some questions:

Is the carrying of petrol powered generators/chainsaws/mowers banned
on boats with open flame gas fridges? If not, why not? They have to
be refuelled as well.

Again, could you use a gas fridge on a gas powered boat? If so, it
might be worth converting the outboard to LPG.

Should all gas appliances be banned on petrol powered boats?

Petrol is perfectly safe as long as it is treated with respect. I
don't really understand the problem if safety precautions are taken
e.g.

When refuelling:

Don't smoke.
Evacuate the boat.
Close all dooors.
Switch off all gas appliances and shut off the gas supply.
Transfer petrol on the bank, not on the boat.
Replace the cap on empty cans.

Those are the rules that I use.

A compulsory notice on every petrol powered boat
to that effect would be better than banning the use of appliances.
