Brian,

Well, I'd thought of that but it does seem a bit odd....minimal disturbance
to folk (i.e. minimal volume) with maximum effectiveness (i.e. targeted
sound)....surely it'd make sense to have the sound 'starting' from as close
to the target object (i.e. on coming hire-boat) as possible (i.e. sharp
bit).....

Mind you, a klaxon does sound intriguing....are they effective / affordable
/ gettable ?
