Agreed - I'm convinced that's one reason why BW get away with a lack of
dredging. I'm pretty sure that most large-scale builders these days build to
a nominal draft of 1ft10 (which with the slope of the boat corresponds to an
average of 1ft8); any builders out there like to confirm that?
At least most of the weight on mine is concentrated very low down (you can't
get lower than the base plate!) so it isn't too tender. Certainly it gets
blown about in the wind a lot more than say a loaded working boat, although
as the front doesn't ride too high it isn't as bad as my previous boat which
was a Harborough with the "window-smasher" style of bow.
