Well, we then went walking over some bumpy bits as has already been
described. I've been getting a bit of chest pain off and on for a
week or so...
Went for the chest pain stress test today. I got to 179 bpm on the
treadmill before I got scared and quit. No pain, ECG and BP fine, and
so they pretty much ruled out angina. They said that 179 was 109% of
my maximum heart rate and so they were very pleased. The final bit of
the treadmill was a killer though, 4.2 mph on a 16% gradient.
He He :-) I know how it feels to get up to those giddy heights of
heart rate. I reckon a safer way of doing it would be on a stationary
bicycle, which is how I used to do it doing interval training in the
winter. I was younger and fitter then and ended up with the last five
minutes increasing in pace each minute until maximum was achieved,
then just try and hold it for the last minute. Buckets of sweat
everywhere! Heart rate close to 200. Unable to stand let alone walk
for five minutes afterwards. Erk!
