certainly a good sunrise.

Thanks. If only I'd been somewhere better than at home! I'm surrounded by
buildings, street lights, telegraph poles and stuff and there was only one
real "gap" between a few buildings that I could point the camera through. So
most of my good shots were moderate to long telephoto. All my wide angle
shots were ruined by all the buildings and stuff. Still, I didn't do too
badly considering.

If I'd known it was going to be so good I'd have jumped in the car and
driven to a better viewpoint, at least up the hill to get an uninterrupted
view of the sky. But when it started I wasn't even interested at first. I
took a quick glance outside as it started getting light (as I usually do)
and there were a few pink tinged clouds, but it was mostly grey stuff and I
thought nothing much was going to happen, so I went back inside.

That might have been it, I might have missed it all, but a little voice in
my head told me to have another look a little while later. So I did and it
had improved a bit, so I thought "well I suppose I'd better take a couple of
snaps". Then as I did so it just got better and better. By the time I
realised this was something special it was too late to go anywhere. I
couldn't jump in the car and waste 5 or 10 minutes while the sunrise was at
its peak. I've tried that before and missed some great shots. So I just
stayed where I was and did the best I could. I took a *lot* of photos, but
that's just one of course. It wouldn't be appropriate to show any more on
Wilderness Images though because, well, they're not *wilderness* shots!

On splitting websites, I think the amount of "stuff" is a factor.

Yeah, I plan to add a lot of content to WW so it's going to get quite big.
Better to move some of the less relevant content elsewhere I reckon, to keep
the purpose of the website more tightly focused.

Another factor is the website design software I mentioned in my email. One
of the limitations is that the same design applies to the whole site. I
think my photo galleries would benefit from a completely different design
and it would be impossible to do that. I could simply design two sites and
link them together to look like one, but if I'm going to do that I may as
well use a different domain and make it truly separate.

At
the moment I just have sections to my sites, they could probably be
better delineated, especially seperating good photos from record
shots and ones that are not up to standard.

Yes, that's one of the problems with my site. My current photo galleries are
a mixture of my best shots, some very ordinary shots and even some duff
ones! The latter are perfectly good at showing what a place looks like,
which is fine if that's the point, but they really shouldn't be included in
photo galleries.
