Bit in whiteout you can't trust your eyes,
I know. It's hard enough to even stand up straight on a slope because you
can't see a horizon to orient yourself (a bit like trying to stand on one
leg with your eyes closed - very disconcerting).
because aside from yourself
and your kit there is literally /nothing/ to see but flat white.
Knife edge ridge in whiteout you'd be forced to use touch, probing
every step. Very dull, in an unpleasantly exciting sort of way ;-/
(I've only ever had to do it for a few meters, and that wasn't any
fun).
I've never had to do it, and I hope I never do.
