Good. Any chance of taking a snap of these dangerous rocks? I've yet to see
a photo.
I couldn't see anything that looked remotely dangerous (given that standing under a waterfall on wet rock, etc, etc, etc, probably carries a little intrinsic danger!).
I was also going to say that should these rocks fall one day, it's most
likely to happen either during a freeze/thaw period (in winter, obviously)
or during heavy rain when large quantities of water are thundering over the
falls.
Given that some rain is likely over the weekend, this may well be a good
opportunity to see these falls at their best, but of course, the risk factor
will be a bit higher.
More to the point though, you will get pretty wet crossing the river behind
Sgwd yr Eira when there's a lot of water coming over, but that's all part of
the fun! I presume you'll be wearing waterproofs!
No, waterproofs are for wimps. We just got soaked. I was trying to get one of the girls to rub Vic onto my chest all night, but they all unaccountably had more important things to do. Women, eh?
When the river is
particularly full, the northern edge of the fall hits/splashes you as you
walk under it. I wonder if this is the bit where the loose rocks are? I also
wonder if more of the fall would hit you as a result? I'm curious to find
out about this.
The worst part was getting off the river bed onto the path that goes behind the falls. I've never been here before, so I don't know if anything's changed.
And of course, the odds of getting to Sgwd Einion Gam will be pretty low,
unless you climb out of the valley and scramble back down near to the fall
(on the north side of the river, it's not possible on the south).
We went back from Sgwd yr Eira, no further heroics.
