In that case, you are looking for a unit intended for road navigation
and which has the features you require, rather than a unit intended for
walking. You might get a better answer on uk.rec.gps rather than in a
walking group like this.

On a walking unit, the easiest way to set up a waypoint for a car park
or track junction is usually with separate mapping software on your PC,
e.g. Anquet or Memory Map. This enables you to just point and click on
an OS map. But it won't give you the road navigation you want.

Just thought that walkers need to get to out of the way places just to start
a walk and so may have already encountered the problem I have.
