On my previous Mk 2 Mondeo I had two broken coil springs in about 15 months. I queried the second one, and was led into the workshop where the indignant mechanic showed me the break. ;-)
It may be sheer coincidence but in the last 3 years I've had to replace a broken spring on my Vectra Estate, and only last week two springs on my Ford KA and I'm very careful about driving over humps.
I asked the workshop guys whether they thought road humps had anything to do with it, but they shook their heads and said "wear and tear".
I have my own views on that, and I am also careful over the thumps.
The yobbos treat the humps as a challenge and get over them as quickly as possible.
Yep, stolen cars, boy racers, big 4 x 4s all seem to relish them. :-(
