Helly Hansen. Royal Artillery issue. And so on. You probably think
of them as sailing gear. There were some lighter ones made specifically
for walking, too - I bought one in the late 1980s for my daughter.

They were 100% waterproof, but the only breathing was the exchange
of air through the openings as you moved. They could get very sweaty.
