Hi, Peter C., thanks for the input. As with the strides, you can put
in that info at the beginning of set-up phase. You put in your
weight, height and stride in cm prior to your own use. Besides, you
cannot use the pedometer with a bike, you are right, you will lose 10
or 20 easily by mixing tools. So, you basically need to use the
pedometer by putting it in your jeans pocket or somewhere you can keep
it all day long, not just a time for exercising, you see.

It's just that a pedometer would tell me how many steps for a distance that
I've measured on the bike, then division would tell how many steps for a
known distance (on-road walking of course for this purpose.
It's only to get a basis; my step is about 5-10% shorter off-road.

Yep, I am five-foot-two and very short. Hey, I am a Japanese.
;-)

You can go for 10km with your strides??? You must be a giant.
:0 No, I am joking.

6'4", so not quite!

Well, Japanese Health Agency says that 10,000 steps a day will be a
normal 300-calories extra to lose for a day. We Japanese walk a lot
from stations to home and office, you know, compared to Americans who
tend to rely on the vehicles. Well, we can try to think of how we can
walk extra, and what we do will be like walking from the two stations
away from your home station, and you don't use a bus, something like
that.

Hey, sound like you are working out fine. Good going, man!

Cheers lass and all the best with your plan.

Apparently using a pedometer increases the amount walked - I suppose it
adds challenge and also the desire to 'round up' the walk.

You don't understand Newton's Third Law of Motion?
It's not rocket science, you know.
