It suggests it's a fair bit easier to use than the ones we're familiar
with to date, and perhaps significantly works easily without connecting
it to a PC, which could be a real point in its favour.
Not an in-depth review for the serious GPS-o-phile to pore over the fine
print, but if you want something really simple to use and the existing
units haven't really lit your fire then this one could be worth
investigating.
Pity it doesn't come with Norwegian 1:50K as an option,...
After months of promises they still haven't got the SatSync software fully working, which enables
the transfer of GPX files from PC mapping software to the SatMap unit. Without that the unit is
really limited and there are mixed reports on other aspects of the device. One user has returned his
for a refund.
I've been following this thread: it started in October and it's long, but worth reading right
through, especially towards the end:-

Another point worth bearing in mind is that the maps come on SD cards which are very small and
relatively flimsy. You must keep them safe and in good nick because you *can't* make a backup copy.
Only the original card will work. If the card is mislaid or becomes damaged and unreadable for any
reason, that's it - you've lost it. Just maybe SatMap would send a replacement if you returned the
damaged original, but I don't know.
