Been thinking that I'd like to go on a holiday, probably in Europe,
with the arrangements already done (lazy!).
Any good companies out there? Done a bit of searching but can't really
tell how competent the orgs. are.

I'd prefer high-level, fairly rugged terrain - perhaps E. Europe even.

One thing that does concern me is the pace of any group, as I've heard
(from a mate who led walks in Austria) that the first 4 - 5 days of a
week's trip are slow. I tend to walk at about 4mph over moderate
ground.

T'other thing is the 'single' supplement - costs a bomb! Don't mind
sharing (with a non-snorer) though.

Cheers.

I've only twice been on a 'package' walkies holiday with my GF, both
times with HF. The locations could have been better - the hotel
supposedly in Malcesine by Lake Garda was in fact some 4km to the South
so bang went the nightlife - but the organisation was good and the
guides on the first one, in the Tirol, were well-prepared and knew the
routes and feeding/watering holes well. They also ran two walking
parties, one for those preferring short undemanding walks, the other for
more strenuous hikes though on those I still found myself waiting around
for slower walkers. I think HF do a mix of packages from light hikers to
heavy-duty 'extremophiles' though haven't checked for a while as it's
not the sort of thing I'd normally go for - I'd rather DIY, on the
whole.

Cheers

Fred
