They're not. But you don't end up wearing the OTs after the rain has
stopped, and at /that/ point they're cooler.
Paramos also have full length zips (with poppers to keep the legs from
flying apart), so you can have as much or as little ventilation as you
choose.
Ventilation is much vaunted in outdoor garments, but never quite as good
as its marketing makes out IMHO. If you open a vent next to your leg in
wind blown sleet it won't be very much fun, and you always face the
problem that if the area away from a vent is cool enough, at the vent it
will probably be too cold. Vents also add cost, weight and bulk to the
finished article.
I think we have the picture that they're not for you.
But for those of us who don't overheat in wind blown sleet, tend to
find the rain never stops, and can manage a few extra ounces hanging
off our hips, Paramo trousers are seriously useful pieces of kit. I
expect I too would find a Paramo jacket far too hot, by the way.
