Sad news - depends how you look at it - Paul's computer has died :-)
Back online now! :-)
Photoshopped a bit too hard, one assumes?
I was flight simming at the time actually.
Hopefully
something fairly trivial like a dead PSU ..
I think something burnt out on the motherboard. I could detect that burning
electrical smell, but couldn't track down exactly where it was. I tried
unplugging a lot of stuff, swapping graphics cards and so on, but it didn't
go away and it started crashing regularly. After two days it completely
refused to boot up.
Anyway, I hope he gets it
replaced with something bigger and faster before too long.
Yep. I've needed to upgrade to something better for a while, so this simply
forced the issue.
I'm now the proud owner of an AMD X2 5600 with 2GB of RAM and an nVidia
8600GTS graphics card.

I've also got up to 2.2 terabytes of hard drive space, depending on how many
drives I plug in (1 SATA, 3 IDE and 3 external).
I bought it with Vista Business installed. I figured this was the ideal time
to upgrade my OS. Unfortunately I've got hardware issues now. There are no
Vista drivers for my modems, one of my external drives won't work with it
and neither will my joystick.
On the plus side, the motherboard has IDE slots so I can plug my old hard
drives into it. So I've reinstalled XP as a second OS and have reconnected
through that for now.
